Elder Services of Berkshire County administers the Mass Farmers' Market Coupon program for Berkshire County seniors. Each participant receives a booklet of coupons (worth approximately $25); each coupon is worth $2.50; no change is given for coupon purchases. Coupons are generally available the first week in July and must be redeemed by October 31st.
Eligible food covered by the Senior coupon program includes: fresh, unprepared locally grown fruits & vegetables, cut herbs, & honey. They cannot be used to purchase baked goods, potted plants, eggs, meat or non-food items.
Participants must be 60 yrs or older, and eligible for one of the following: SNAP/food stamps, SSI, Section 8 Housing, fuel assistance, Medicaid, or commodity food assistance.
ESBC distributes the coupons in bulk to local senior centers/councils on aging who then distribute them to their local residents.
