The Home Modification Loan Program for Individuals with Disabilities is a lending program funded by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission in collaboration with CEDAC, which provides funding for individuals and families to modify homes for a household member with a disability. The loan program lends from $1,000 to $25,000 secured by a promissary note and mortgage recorded at the Registry of Deeds as a lien on the property. The modifications made to the home must relate to the functional disability of the household member who benefits from the modifications. The interest rates are 0% or 3% depending on income. In most cases seniors qualify for the 0% loan, which means they so not have to make monthly payments. Our mission is to enable a person with a disability to continue to live in her/his own home, be as independent as possible and continue to play an active role in her/his community.
