The Needham Community Council provides several services to Needham residents of all ages at no cost.
They have a loan closet for medical equipment and any of the following can be signed out for up to six months: walkers, wheel chairs, commodes, bath seats, bed rails, and canes.
There is a volunteer senior medical escort program which operates Monday through Friday to Needham and surrounding towns, but not to Boston. A courtesy van operates every Tuesday and Friday and will take seniors on any errands or appointments in Needham without charge. A three day advance notice is required.
English as a Second Language tutoring is provided either on a one to one basis, or in conversation groups.
They provide a second hand shop for housewares and clothing. On Mondays a Nursing Boutique is brought to the Nursing Homes in Needham so patients can purchase personal items etc. The Community Council is always receptive to taking on new volunteers.
The Needham town food pantry is located at the Needham Community Council. Income eligible Needham residents can use the pantry once a month. They Must have a written letter with a referral from either the Needham Housing Authority or the Needham Board of Health.
