A state funded program which provides cash assistance to low-income elders, disabled and children in need to stabilize their lives. EAEDC is for families and individuals who do not qualify for other cash assistance programs. Recipients must meet the eligibility criteria, including: Over 65 years old and waiting for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments to begin; or Participating in a Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission program; or Required to be in the home to care for an incapacitated individual who would have to be institutionalized if someone does not provide the care in the home. In addition must: Meet income and asset limits, Be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.
To apply for EAEDC, contact DTA's Application Information Unit 1-877-382-2363 or your local Transitional Assistance Office. When you apply, you may request SNAP benefits (food stamps) without filing a separate application; get immediate help with food, shelter and medical care.
