The Ombudsman Program advocates for the rights of individuals in nursing and rest homes. Ombudsmen support the dignity and empowerment of residents by protecting residents’ rights, providing information, and advocating for positive change. Volunteers visit homes weekly; receiving, investigating and working to resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, residents. Mandated by the Federal Older Americans Act, the program is funded by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Contact the program director for information about the facilities in Franklin County and the North Quabbin area or to discuss a concern affecting a resident.
