Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) operates the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for eligible residents of Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, Winchester and Woburn. The ABCD Fuel Assistance Program pays a portion of the cost of heating for eligible residents. If heat is included in your rent and you do not have a housing subsidy, Fuel Assistance can pay a portion of your rent. To be eligible, you must have income at or below the annual income limits for your family size. Please call for details on the income limits or go to the website. If you are close to the income limit, you should call and see if you might qualify. Call directly to schedule an appointment or request an application. The Fuel Assistance program starts on November 1, 2018 and ends on April 30, 2019. If you are in danger of being without heat due to low fuel supply, gas heat or electric shutoff please call the ABCD Malden office at 781-322-6284.
You may also be eligible for more savings through additional programs, including Utility Discount Rate, Arrearage Forgiveness Plan, Weatherization, Electric Audit and Heating System Repair & Replacement. Call ABCD for additional information and eligibility requirements for these programs.
