Louison House provides homeless prevention services in addition to operating a transitional homeless shelter and leased housing units. Provides preventive counseling, crisis intervention and case management for homeless and at-risk families and individuals, as well as Representative-Payee Program.
Louison House operates The Transitional Housing program, a 22-bed shelter that can house families and individuals for up to 2 years even though most exit the program within 3-6 months. In order to be eligible, all clients must meet the federal standard for being considered homeless, and also must have documentation such as an eviction letter. As a condition of acceptance into the program, all clients must accept supportive services provided by staff, and also create and follow their Individual Service Plans (ISPs). A range of supports are offered such as case management services, career/financial counseling, and life-skills training.
They are the only general population homeless shelter in Northern Berkshire County serving both individuals and families with varying needs
