Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is located at the Worcester Senior Center. Hours are: Mon-Fri (8:30am-4:30pm). The Program provides opportunities for people age 55+ to be placed in meaningul volunteer positions in public and non-profit agencies, currently 32 organizations in the Greater Worcester area. Areas of focus are: Nutrition and Hunger, Support for Children, Health and Wellness, and Helping the Community. Placememnt opportunities include: schools, libraries, hospitals, hospice and human service agencies in short-term, long-term, and special assignments. Example volunteer placements include: food pantries, Meals on Wheels, Rachel's Table, Habitat for Humanity, Avid Program to assist students applying for college, CASA, Literacy Volunteers, Head Start Read Aloud Program, and hospital cuddlers for premature infants. Supplemental and accident insurance is offered as well as mileage reimbursemement.
RSVP also operates a Senior Fraud Hotline (1-800-297-9760) and Fraud Squad shows at senior centers and highrises, educating seniors in how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.
