Councils on Aging are the principal agencies of local government which service the needs of the elderly. Councils provide access to social and recreational services throughout the Commonwealth and are based at senior centers or other municipal buildings such as town halls or community centers. Services may include: information and referral, nutrition programs, transportation, outreach, health screenings, education, support groups, advocacy, volunteer activities, arts and crafts, exercise programs, etc.
Meals are served Monday through Friday, noon. Suggested donation of $2.25/meal

Fuel Assistance - the center will assist elders with applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Transportation - to towns of Amherst, Belchertown, Chicopee, Granby, Hadley, Holyoke, Northampton, South Hadley, and Springfield. There is one lift van and one station wagon available. Hulmes Transportation handles transportation to more distant points.
Brown Bag Food Program - operated by the Food Bank in Hatfield. Low and moderate income elders may participate. Persons needing to have the food delivered to their home will be accommodated. Applications are available at the COA.
Food Stamps - for assistance call the COA.
