The Disability Law Center offers individual advocacy and legal representation in cases that relate to a person's disability. Workshops on legal issues affecting people with disabilities are offered as well as information and referral, system advocacy and law reform. The Disabiltiy Law Center specializes in abuse and neglect, special education, health care and deinstitutionalization.
The goal of the Disability Law Center is to protect and promote the legal rights of people with disabilities. Information and referral includes technical assistance for consumers and their families, their counsel, or attorneys to aid in gaining and protecting rights and referrals to other lawyers or agencies in matters not related to a disability, or where client can afford to hire a private attorney. Workshops on legal issues affecting developmentally disabled people are available to human service and mental halth agencies who work with the developmentally disabled.
