OTHER INFORMATION/COMMENTS: Home Care Resource Department CONTACT - Nancy Maynard DESCRIPTION - The department arranges a variety of services for elders. Volunteer support is needed to make follow-up telephone calls to elders to ascertain their satisfaction with the services they are receiving and completion of a short form describing what the client has reported. Home Care Resource Department - Information and Referral CONTACT - Nancy Maynard DESCRIPTION - The home care resource department would like volunteer efforts to focus on updating and expanding community resources for elders in the computer database. There is also a vast amount of information in paper form which is organized by categories called Quality Long Living tips. This information is sent out to consumers and needs to be continually updated, expanded, and restocked. A volunteer could also assist with Home Delivered Meal reassessments.Nutrition Program CONTACT - Nancy Mathers DESCRIPTION - The nutrition program prepares food for home delivered meals and community mealsites. This program would like volunteers to deliver home delivered meals to elders in various towns. Caring Community Options Programs (AFC) CONTACT - Tracey Kellam Masloski DESCRIPTION - Adult Family Care is a program that matches elders and disabled adults (over 16) who need daily assistance and have a medical condition which requires monitoring with trained care provider families in the community. AFC is seeking volunteers to tutor developmentally disabled participants working one-on-one to improve academic skills. We are also looking for companions/support people to: 1) provide respite to caregivers, 2) accompany participants on outings and to medical appointments, and 3) provide one-on-one training in life skills.State Home Care CONTACT - Judson Brown DESCRIPTION - The Home Care department is staffed by care advisors who assess elders' needs and arrange services such as homemaking, shopping, laundry, personal care services, etc. There are several areas where volunteer support is needed. A volunteer could help make telephone calls to clients, or provide help with a variety of clerical and program functions. Money Management Program CONTACT - Marcia A. Klaus DESCRIPTION - Volunteers meet in the home of elders to assist them with monthly financial matters, which could include sorting mail, writing out checks for the elder's signature, or balancing the checkbook. Volunteer must go through a personal interview, give personal references, and undergo training to be eligible. Volunteers are required to commit to one year of service and approximately 6-8 hours per month.
