The YWCA of Central Massachusetts provides various recreational and social programs for all ages. Some of their programs include:
- ENCOREplus® Program, a combined peer support group and exercise program, for women under treatment and recovering from breast cancer. ENCOREPlus meets on Tuesdays, 11:15-11:45 a.m. for physical support and water exercise, and 12:00-1:00 pm for an emotional support group.
- Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group, which is open to other kin, is offered on the second Monday of every month from 6:00-8:00 pm at the YWCA Members Lounge, 1 Salem Square, Worcester, MA. Call Elder Services of Worcester Area at 508-756-1545 for more information.
- Domestic Violence Services Program for survivors and their children, hotline: 508-755-9030; chat-line www.ywcahelp.com
Survivor services include: community outreach, domestic violence class, confidential emergency shelter, Family and Friends Bystander Progra, SAFEPLAN/Court advocacy, short-term counseling and advocacy, Child/youth short-erm counseling and advocacy, Recovery Linkage, support groups, and Service Provider Consultations.
- Transitional Housing is available to women who work or attend school full-time, offering short-term affordable dormitory style living at One Salem Square for two months up to two years. This includes a private room with essential furnishings and access to a community kitchen and living area.
